Introduction

Trivia is like a mini game within all the Carnage Blender fun, that gives you a chance to not only have a great time and meet new people, but also to make a small profit. I will ask 10 static general knowledge questions on various topics, and you must answer in PM as fast as you can.

Rules and Gameplay

Basic Rules
  • Send $2000 to Blue's character, Trivia II, or the host's designated Trivia character.
  • Join room "Trivia" when it is open.
  • I'll ask 10 questions on various general topics. First two correct answers get 2 and 1 points respectively. Answer in PM!*
  • 10 second time limit. If only one person answers correctly within the 10 seconds, they will earn 3 points.
  • The person with the most points in the end wins the pot.
Complete Rules
  • Anybody can play, veterans or noobs! This game has nothing to do with your score, PR, net worth, etc. or even whether I know you or not.
  • Will usually be run between 9 and 10 CBT (-7 GMT) on Friday nights. Type "/join Trivia" without the quotes to get there.
  • I will ask 10 questions, answers will be in PM only.* Chat is for discussion among players, and for posting questions/answers/winners.
  • First correct answer gets 2 points, second correct answer gets 1 point.
  • 10 second time limit.
  • If only one person answers correctly before the 10 seconds are up, he/she gets 3 points. If nobody answers, nobody gets any points (obviously ;-)
  • After all 10 questions are done with, the person with the most points wins the entire pot** (all entry fees and donations). You must play the whole game to win. E.g. if you leave but still have the most points, the person in second place would win the pot.
  • Tie-breaker will be a CB related question.
  • Cost is $2000 to play, send money to "Trivia III". If you pay and are unable to play, I will refund you if you wish, simply by the entry fee divided by however many questions you were present for.***
  • Anybody is welcome to just come and watch, if you don't want to actually play. You don't have to pay to watch.
  • If I, my bouncer, or a CB chat op feels you are being disruptive, obnoxious, or unruly we will kick you out.
  • If I leave at any time during Trivia unannounced, it means my chat has frozen :-P I'll just be back ASAP. Please be patient and wait.
  • This is the order of the questions, each with an example:

      The "Aurora Borealis" are more commonly known as what?
    • 3. Geography
      What is the highest mountain in Japan?
    • 4. Vocabulary
      What is a synonym for "lethargic"?
    • 5. Math
      9(18+2-2*5)/((15+3)/6)
    • 6. Mythology
      A hippocampus is half horse and half what?
    • 7. Literature
      How old was Christopher Paolini when he graduated from high school?
    • 8. Movies, Music, TV
      Who is the lead singer for the band "Tool"?
    • 9. Computers/Technology
      What does the XHTML element <hr /> do?
    • 10. Miscellaneous
      Who painted the famous piece "Starry Night"?

Rules for Heaumeheads
  • I will ask 10 questions.
  • You answer in PM as fast as you can.

* This is to prevent people from copying others' answers and stealing points they don't deserve.
** You must play the whole game to win. E.g. if you leave but still have the most points, you would get refunded (see bullet #9) and the person in second place would win the pot.
*** Being "afk" or "brb" doesn't count as "not being present." You have to actually leave the room, and not return, to be eligible for a refund.

Trivia History Calendar

January 4, 2005 - Tuesday Night Trivia is first introduced by Klinik. A practice round is held. 1
January 11, 2005 - First official Trivia game is held.
January 17, 2005 - Trivia is postponed due to technical problems.
March 24, 2005 - Trivia is reintroduced by RedWolf. 2
March 26, 2005 - Another practice round is held by Red.
April 19, 2005 - First official Trivia game with new host is held.
July 13, 2005 - Lukey is proclaimed official Trivia co-host. 3
October 8, 2005 - Lukey resigns from co-host.
October 12, 2005 - BlueWolf becomes the official Trivia bouncer.
December 24, 2005 - Trivia Wiki page is first announced.
December 28, 2005 - Three tie-breakers are used to determine a winner.
January 4, 2006 - Trivia Wiki page is created.
January 21, 2006 - Trivia Wiki page is removed.
February 4, 2006 - Trivia website uploaded; Lukey resumes his position as co-host.
February 11, 2006 - Trivia VIPs are introduced.
September 16, 2006 - Trivia Wiki page comes back online.
September 20, 2006 - Trivia website gets a huge update.
August 13, 2007 - Trivia games are so scarce, they are no longer kept on record.
October 9, 2009 - Trivia is brought back for a test run by BlueWolf.
October 16, 2009 - Trivia's first official rebirth game.

Player Statistics

Note: As of this update, these stats (as well as the Archives) will no longer be recorded with future games, since games these days are so rare and the semi-annual updates could hardly make a significant difference in the totals. Sorry to those with less-than-desirable stats, but you're stuck with what you've got now :-P

I only included people who have played at least 3 Trivia games in these stats, to be fair.
Also, the average points and win percentages only take into account the full games a player has participated in.
If a player joined late or left early, I did not count those games.

Column Key:
A is the player's total point accrual
B is the total points earned in all their full games
C is the total number of games they have participated in
D is the number of full games they have played
E is the number of games they have won
F and G are the player's average points and win percentage, respectively.

About Me

My name is Taylor. Trivia used to be half of the reason I would get on Carnage Blender. I would waste the BA I had, forge what I could, and then it was off to bugging Kyle (RedWolf) until he got questions together for a Trivia session. I NEVER won a Trivia, but I had so much fun in it, that I eventually became the official "Bouncer." After disappearing for two years, I came back to find out a Trivia hadn't been done in ages, so I threw one together to see if people were still interested. It went great and after talking to Kyle, I took over Trivia permanently.
